The Anokhi Museum of Hand Printing is located in the UNESCO award-winning Anokhi Haveli in the city of Amer, the precursor to Jaipur. Owned by the Anokhi Foundation, the museum houses examples of the rich tradition of hand-printing or block-printing fabrics found in Rajasthan.
Our role
Pramod Kumar KG was responsible for all aspects of the creation of the museum. This included advising on adapting the structure to museum use; selecting samples for display from the Anokhi archives (the product of 35 years of diligent collecting by the Anokhi Foundation); researching the tradition of blockprinting in Rajasthan from across the world by incorporating research from collections, curators and textile conservators from across the globe; curating the display; appropriate signage; and publications. The building was adapted for use as a museum by Stephan Paumier & ABRD architects.
