Photography enthusiasts are in for a treat as an exhibition showcasing a 19th century photographer’s reflections on India’s heritage got underway on Friday at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts. The three-month exhibition peeks into the early 19th century lifestyle and is of immense interest for those interested in photography, said IGNCA member-secretary Jyotindra Jain.
The exhibition scans the streets of Calcutta, Lucknow and Karnataka’s Bijapur and Gulbarga areas in black and white shades besides capturing monuments like Falaknuma Palace. The technical aspect of the shots is what will interest an onlooker, he said.
For scholars and researchers, a slide show of about 3,000 photographs taken by photographer Raja Deen Dayal is also part of the exhibition, said Jain.
