Vijayanagara Unearthed

A routine demolition of illegal structures in Hampi has unearthed a treasure trove. Hampi, once the seat of the great Vijayanagara empire, is now a heritage site. Demolition hence required the supervision and presence of ASI staff and officials. The structures to be demolished were located near the famous Virupaksha temple. Once demolition work began, beholders were astonished with what emerged from beneath. Here’s the story.
