Client: Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum, City Palace, Jaipur

August 2011 – March 2016

The Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum is located within the City Palace complex, Jaipur and houses a diverse collection of paintings, photographs, artefacts, and arms and armour. The museum was instituted by Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II in 1959 and spreads across various sections of the palace complex like the Mubarak Mahal, the Diwan-i-Aam, the Diwan-i-Khas and the Chandra Mahal.

Our role

Engaged with both the Trusts since 2011, Eka was initially consulted for documentation at the City Palace. We have subsequently completed auditing and reviewing the Museum’s collections, and curated an exhibition of photographs and garments at Jaigarh, in the Royal Guards’ Gallery. We also completed a strategic review for the Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum that included disaster management, and planning a major exhibition and publication on Painting and Photography at the Jaipur Court. We were also museum consultants to the Jaigarh Public Charitable Trust.
