Not so ‘nomad’

A new exhibition at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, New York University, titled “Nomads and Networks: The Ancient Art and Culture of Kazakhstan” is all set to dispel quite a few misconception relating to nomadic history. Nomads have always been considered as non-settling pastoral people with the occasional valor of riding and martial prowess but with no composite culture or sense of society. But excavations of burial sites have revealed a thriving savoir faire of artistry and material culture. Click here for more.
