Client: Department of Culture, Government of Punjab, Chandigarh, Punjab, India
December 2009 – ongoing
Bhagat Singh and his companions Sukhdev and Rajguru are eulogised even in modern times for their martyrdom in the cause of India’s freedom.
A DRONAH-Eka consortium has been commissioned by the Government of Punjab (the home state of the three martyrs) to create a project proposal for a new museum on the site of the existing Shaheed Bhagat Singh Museum, Khatkar Kalan (at one time Bhagat Singh’s home). The new museum is also envisioned as a memorial to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, as well as the contribution of more than 9,000 martyrs from Punjab towards the Indian freedom struggle.
Our role
Our task includes inputs on display materials and techniques; presentation; planning the memorial and museum spaces; and outreach in the form of a re-developed research centre and library.
