MUSEUMS

Religious Trusts

Eka helped convert the residence of Swami Dayananda Saraswati, founder of the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, into a memorial.

Religious Trusts have unique collections which are both historically and spiritually important. A trust might have in their possession – priceless art, sacred objects, vintage documents, and records that map the progress and propagation of their faith. The stories that bring them alive are often fully known and appreciated by only a few important members of the religious leadership.

These objects in the collection and their stories and myths, because of their power and importance, need to be presented in ways that appeal to not just the followers of the faith but also to those beyond its ken.

From the The Museum of Christian Art, in Goa, India, Asia's first museum dedicated to Christian art.

In order to achieve this, first, cataloguing objects and documents meticulously is imperative. Documentation of history – not just in the secular sense but also according to their sacred chronology – is achieved via close collaboration between the experts of the institution and Eka’s research specialists.

Finally, bringing the collection alive requires creating meaningful spaces, with an almost meditative flow of information and media – so that the messages and values, embedded in the collection and their stories, are communicated deeply to the audience.

Eka brings on board unique sensitivity to create a visual and spatial narration of the world of faith. With art, design and technology, Eka builds tangible spaces to invoke devotion in believers, and respect in the minds of the audience at large.
