Department of Museums deals with the overall functioning and administration of the museums in Punjab. Eka is commissioned by Department of Museums, Government of Punjab for two projects: Sheesh Mahal Museum and Art Gallery Patiala and Shaheed Bhagat Singh Memorial Museum, Khatkar Kalan. For more details please visit the website.
The Sheesh Mahal holds a fine collection of artifacts that vary from costumes and jewellery to paintings, manuscripts, coins, furniture, photographs, crystal, weaponry and a significant collection of more than 3,000 medals from across the world. The Durbar hall, just outside the main fort complex in Patiala was traditionally used for large ceremonial court gatherings and currently holds an extensive collection of chandeliers, arms and weaponry.
The Shaheed Bhagat Singh Museum is envisioned as a memorial to Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru, as well as the contribution of more than 9,000 martyrs from Punjab towards the Indian freedom struggle.
Eka has been commissioned by the Government of Punjab to create a project proposal for a Shaheed Bhagat Singh Museum, on the existing site. We are providing inputs on display materials and techniques; presentation; planning the memorial and museum spaces; and outreach in the form of a re-developed research centre and library. For the Sheesh Mahal project Eka are creating new scenography for the museum, conceiving new exhibitions and re-installing the Durbar Hall’s crystal chandeliers.
