The recent series of blasts that have rocked the city of Mumbai has yet again left us in shock and despair. Such acts of terror not only take a heavy toll on life and property, but also dismantle the cultural heritage of geographical spaces. One is still petrified in retrospect of the pillage of Babylonian history and art in war torn Iraq. In context of the Mumbai explosions, it is happy news that a 200 year old milestone, installed during the colonial period, has survived the blast at Dadar.
