Maurizio Bernardelli Curuz Guerrieri and Adriana Conconi Fedrigolli, a pair of Italian art scholars, have recently a two-volume e-book called Young Caravaggio—One Hundred Rediscovered Works. Drawing on a cache of 90 sketches, 10 oil paintings including an alleged self portrait, discovered from the archives Castello Sforzesco in Milan, where Caravaggio apprenticed under the post-Renaissance teacher Simone Peterzano before he became a master in his own right, the book has already attracted a lot of opprobrium. Caravaggio scholars are of the opinion thta these sketches and paintings are not by the artist and the recent claim has been deemed fake. Newsweek reports.
