Client: The Chowmahalla Palace Trust, Hyderabad
July 2012 – January 2013
Initiated over two hundred years ago, the completion of Chowmahalla complex of palaces was an incremental process involving the reigns of several Nizams, the heads of the Asaf Jah family that ruled Hyderabad state. A unique conglomeration of architectural styles and tastes, the collections housed within reflect the eclectic mix of objects including a rich photography collection gathered together by several generations of the Asaf Jahi family
Our role
Our focus was on creating a photographic exhibition which focused on the photographs drawn from the photo archives at the Chowmahalla Palace. Our scope of work included the appointment of a museum curator who was responsible for the management and care of the collections, and creating photographic stores and fine-tuning the existing storage based on the evolving needs of the collection.
