The exhibition based on the AOH collection was a first-time nuanced examination of Arab jewelry traditions that were forged and created in its heartland.
The design evolution of material culture, particularly jewelry in the region showed influences from several sources across the world. These range from Egypt and the Horn of Africa in the west to Persian, Phoenician, Scythian and Mesopotamian cultures in the north, besides older Celtic, Greek, Roman, Etruscan and Byzantine traces.
This exhibition was animated by sterling examples of silver and gold jewelry from the Art of Heritage Collection (AOH) at Riyadh. They represented the full range of jeweled objects that were personal possessions and accouterments of Bedouin women.
The exhibition was organized by Paris-based jewelry design school L’École des Arts Joailliers (the School of Jewellery Arts) with support from Van Cleef & Arpels.
The show was open to public from March 28th to April 13th, 2019 at In5 in HAI D3, Dubai Design District.
