Studio Mumbai, architect Bijoy Jain’s eponymous firm in the Byculla neighbourhood is both home-cum-workshop, and a free flowing space that facilitates and allows Bijoy to swing between idea-centric and project centric work.
Eka has been engaged to set up the Studio Mumbai’s archives as a repository of its journey through inspiration, ideas, thoughts, and processes. The archive will thus serve to strengthen the core of the studio’s practice in memory. Its end home and spatial arrangement will be artistically led with the possibility of housing the collection as a haptic archive. The archive will also possibly be a site for external researchers and visitors who seek to understand the practice, methodology and core beliefs of Studio Mumbai.
