ARCHIVING AND LEGACY MANAGEMENT

Corporate Legacy Archives

The need to preserve is uniquely human and we do it to maintain a sense of belonging, a sense of self or community worth and to create a shared history. There are growing instances of private and corporate efforts to preserve and contextualise objects which speak to a more immediate present. Dr Reddy’s and The Tata Central Archives are examples of corporations who preserve their history through archives.

Private entities are looking to preserve peoples’ histories; working through either PPP (public-private partnership) models and/or crowdsourcing initiatives, businesses have begun archiving both tangible and intangible memories.

The corporate legacy archive of an organisation is a priceless and dynamic resource. Whether in the form of a museum, exhibitions, books, films, websites, or even as virtual experiences, the archiving effort creates a comprehensive narrative of the business and the people central to it, and their impact on society.

As part of WIPRO's 75th year celebrations, Eka helped create the corporate archives and piece together the extraordinary journey of Mr. Azim Premji who led the company for 53 of those 75 years. Read more (Image courtesy: Westland Books on Instagram and Wipro)

Corporate heritage is pieced together by Eka’s experts through meticulous research and by documenting piles of ancient records, significant objects, correspondence or testimony from important personalities, scholarly or editorial material and even rare footage of moments when the brand made an impact on the popular culture of the time.

For far-seeing organisations, the effort and expenditure in creating an extensive corporate legacy archive yields invaluable returns. It not only engenders a shared prestige and purpose among employees but also positively influences a brand’s audience in a dense landscape of fiercely competing brand stories.
