The Chowmahalla Palace: Exhibition & Storage Planning, Hyderabad

Initiated over two hundred years ago, the completion of Chowmahalla complex of palaces was an incremental process involving the reigns of several Nizams, the heads of the Asaf Jah family that ruled Hyderabad state. A unique conglomeration of architectural styles and tastes, the collections housed within reflect the eclectic mix of objects including a rich photography collection gathered together by several generations of the Asaf Jahi family.

Weavers Studio has a design repertoire of more than 20,000 wooden blocks, 1000 textile reference books, 500 old and rare textiles from India and abroad as well as contemporary world textiles from Japan, Africa and Indonesia.

We have been asked to lend our cataloguing expertise to organise the textile collections, and further develop it into a truly representative sample of the textile arts of the subcontinent.
