Royal Collections

Royal collections are not just luxurious curiosities from a bygone era; they were, and often are, ahead of their times in encapsulating a socio-cultural vantage point. Because of their privileged access to the local and the international, and their heritage of patronising the arts and the artisans, these collections help us unfurl connected histories - cultural, artisanal, commercial and technological.

Royal Collections have been the building blocks of many an iconic modern museums of the world with regal palaces as their addresses. The Louvre Museum in Paris and the National Gallery in London are two premier examples.

Apart from a few objects of public prominence because of their value and fame, royal collections are often uncatalogued private possessions, family heirlooms, memorabilia, and objects of personal aesthetic and intellectual pleasure.

Converting them to exhibits for public viewing is a complicated and delicate process. The high value of the objects and royal archives being usually located in the premises of the royal residence create a dual challenge of privacy and security.

Cataloguing the materials, curating and executing an eventual museum space involves unearthing the lost history of items and rebuilding records of artisanal patronage that went into making those objects.

Eka experts help preserve memories of royal achievements, curate the collection, manage and handle objects securely and display them properly. Designing and planning a museum space and solutions to present difficult-to-exhibit artefacts is our special expertise.

With our expertise in using technology to digitise and better manage archives and to create new media and immersive experiences, Eka can help museums update their processes and dramatically expand their reach.
