Our Services
Since 2009, Eka Cultural Resources and Research has worked with museums, institutions, businesses, artists and families to research, organise, archive, curate, exhibit and manage tangible and intangible culture.
Eka’s services are grouped into four areas. Each has its own pages and is backed by project work described on this website. The team brings together authors, designers, researchers, art historians, curators, museologists, conservation architects and collection management experts.

Archiving & Legacy Management
Eka helps businesses, institutions, brands, designers, artists and families protect their legacy and heritage. The team researches, documents and manages tangible and intangible history in the form of legacy archives.
This includes the documentation, cataloguing and digitisation of collections, with records organised into well-defined databases that carry extensive metadata and contextual information. The finished archive can take many forms, from a resource centre or museum to a book or an online gallery.

IN PRACTICE
For the Nemai Ghosh Archive in New Delhi, Eka assessed the collection, designed customised cataloguing formats, advised on digitisation and began cataloguing about 90,000 photographic negatives.
For Wipro Limited, Eka advised on mapping the company’s corporate history through the creation of its Business Archives and Resource Centre.

Curation & Content Development
Eka’s expertise in curation and experience design creates exhibitions that offer concise yet rich insights into a larger subject or collection. It also extends to festivals, talks and events where artists and experts can engage with audiences on art and culture.
The team has a long history of conceptualising, writing and commissioning books on cultural heritage, including in-depth catalogues of large collections. In recent years, Eka has also built capacity in digital content, from rich-media to immersive experiences.

IN PRACTICE
As museum consultant to the City Palace Museum, Udaipur from 2008 to 2014, Eka began cataloguing more than 27,000 photographic objects, which led to the museum’s first renovated international-standard gallery and its first exhibition dedicated to historic early photographs. Eka also assisted the museum in obtaining funding from sources that include the Getty Foundation.
Eka carried out documentation and preservation of royal textiles for the Maharani Manhar Kumari Museum, The Ajaibghar, at the Udai Bilas Palace, Dungarpur.

Strategy Planning
Eka provides strategy planning support to museums and cultural heritage spaces right from inception, helping them stay sustainable, adaptable and relevant.
Support includes branding and visual identity, assessments and reports that give actionable insights on collections and visitor experience, master planning from first objectives to operation, and workshops that keep staff current with good practice.

How We Work
Drawing on its project work, Eka’s approach often follows these four stages.
Assess
The collection is collated and assessed, areas of focus are identified, and the best strategies for cataloguing and display are worked out.
Document & Catalogue
Customised cataloguing formats are designed, and objects are recorded and organised with unique identifiers for easy retrieval.
Digitise
Archives are digitised into well-defined databases with extensive metadata and contextual information.
Curate & Share
Collections reach audiences through exhibitions, publications, events and digital experiences.
